Darrell W. (Dan) Ringer
The law practice of attorney Dan Ringer, begun in 1978, has included successful representation of individuals and businesses and has encompassed both civil and criminal law. Dan has appeared in courts at the federal level, state, county, and municipal levels in a wide variety of cases. Dan is a past-president of the West Virginia State Bar,
has taught and lectured concerning legal matters at the college and
university level since 1976, and is a member of the graduate faculty of
the West Virginia University College of Human Resources and Education. He produces and hosts a weekly legal topics discussion program for West Virginia Public Television entitled The Law Works,
and is the legal analyst for both West Virginia Public Radio and
Television. In 1996 Dan was named the first West Virginia Lawyer
Citizen of the Year by the West Virginia Bar Foundation, and served as
president of the West Virginia State Bar in 1999-2000. In 2000 Dan was named the American Bar Association Practitioner
of the Year, by the ABA's Solo and Small Firm Practice Committee. In
2001 he received the President's Award from the West Virginia Trial
Lawyers Association. Lawyer Dan Ringer is recognized and known
everywhere in the state through his activities with the State Bar and
through his work with West Virginia Public Television - for which he
was named in 1995 as the National Friends of Public Broadcasting
Elizabeth Campbell Outstanding Public Broadcasting Volunteer, and West
Virginia Public Television's first Volunteer of the Year in 1998. In
addition to legal matters, Dan is deeply involved in community affairs.
He serves as a volunteer with the West Virginia Pro Bono Referral
Project; is a past president of the Morgantown Lions Club; is a
volunteer counsel for the American Radio Relay League; serves as West Virginia counsel for the American Heart Association; is the lay representative to the Association of America's Public Television Stations on
behalf of West Virginia Public Broadcasting; serves as a member of the
Board of Directors of the Television Friends of West Virginia Public
Broadcasting, and the Board of Trustees of the National Friends of
Public Broadcasting; is a Century Member of the Mountaineer Area
Council, Boy Scouts of America;
is a member of the West Virginia University College of Law Development
Council, a past member of the governing council of the West Virginia
Law Institute and the West Virginia University College of Law Visiting
Committee, and has received numerous awards and commendations from the
West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Legal Services Plan, the
West Virginia University Center for Black Culture and Research, Criss
Cross, the American Radio Relay League, and the Monongalia Wireless
Association.
